The Importance of Nameserver

We provide our customers with a full Domain Name System (DNS) including four free name servers, which our customers can use for all their domain names.
Benefit of Multiple Name Servers
If too many people and services query the name servers at the same time, it can result in slower loading websites. This can be avoided by distributing the queries equally between multiple name servers.
The industry standard are two name servers per domain name. We have gone one step further and offer per default four name servers for all domain names, one of which is an anycast name server.
Anycast is a network of name servers nodes arounds the world that stores your IP address information. Queries to your website are sent to the closest name server, which results in faster loading speed, increased availability and an overall better user experience.
The anycast name server of our default name server solution is based on 10 points of presence (PoPs).

What do name servers do?

Name servers store important technical information in the zone files and play therefore an essential role in the functioning of online services. Their main task is to function as address books.
In other words, name servers store the information where (on which server and IP address) a website is hosted and link the domain names to the IP addresses of their respective server.
This is done because it’s easier for humans to read and remember a domain name than it is to read and remember an IP address.
For example, when a user types moreweb.nz” into their browser, our name servers know that the content of our website is located at IP address “223.165.76.78” and forwards the user to it.
Instead of remembering this IP address, the user only has to remember the domain name moreweb.nz. Name servers contain also the Mail Exchange (MX) records, which tell the mail server the location of the email recipient, needed for personalised email addresses.
